Any tips for a new dad? I want my son(3mos) to be able to enjoy the outdoors but I don’t know where to start once he’s a little older

Also; I’m trying to figure out good educational things to show him while he’s an infant so he doesn’t grow up with ADHD, but also pushes his potential of absorbing good knowledge

don't buy him devices (at all), limit his screen time to a minimum, sign him up for soccer, hockey, etc, maybe scouts (though they are pretty cucked)

as for education homeschool him if you can and start going /out/ing with him. start by taking him to the park and work your way up. feed him on a paleo diet as well since lots of processed foods inhibit brain/ body function and are also carcinogenic

this is mom science though. don't worry about meme intsagram diets and just try to feed him good quality food. orangic if possible but it isn't as important as just keeping it blanaced and keeping sugar inpact to a minimum.

My dad took me fishing since i was 2 years old and that ended up getting me hooked onto pike fishing. But the one thing that really solidified my desire to be in the outdoors was him buying me My Side of the Mountain, survival books, Jack London books, as well as reading where the red fern grows and other books of the like as a kid. Don't get him video games at all because if I was playing the X-box/ps/ps2/game cube when I was a kid like all the other kids in my class did, I can't say i would have spent all my free time playing in the creek near my house or building figure 4 traps or building forts.

just make it a habit. ours were going /out/ on hikes regularly from 3 months old, tent camping by 16 months, and my oldest was backpacking (carrying his own pack) at 3 years. then they're used to being cold or hot or jostled or in the sun or in the drizzle or whatever. it's just what you do. a good baby carrier backpack is incredible helpful for this. i have an osprey poco plus, pic related, that i love-comfy for me and the kid, and 22l of storage for food, diapers, layers, etc. start them early, as soon as they can hold their head up and are big enough to not fall out. if you wait til 18 months they'll hate it. protip: find them effectively new for half off on craigslist from dumb parents that waited too long.

and don't just say the words. make it interesting. use different voices for different characters, change the volume of your voice, if there's an animal make animal noises, if a character gets a hug or kiss give your kid a hug or kiss. and don't go ask /lit/ what to read and fall for their "start with the greeks" meme. read them kid books. board books with touch and feel when they're tiny, good rhyme/rhythm schemes, bright colors. read them books they'll enjoy so they enjoy them.

if you keep those 3 things in mind everything else will fall into place. as far as specifically applying those 3 things to /out/, just remember you're moving at their pace not yours, and are limited by their tolerence of hunger/cold/exhaustion not yours, so be prepared to adjust turnaround times and such on the fly, and find a way keep it fun and involved. don't just go for a hike, count waterfalls, or collect acorns, or look for birds. and when they have questions be interested and answer them, and if you can't find the answer together later.

Pitch a tent in the living room and eat from your camping mess kit. As he gets older, show him the tools of the trade. Go for increasingly longer walks. Teach survival skills. What direction are we heading? What kind of tree is this? What bird song is that? Make a fire using only the things in this challenge sack. So many things you can do but the main point is to make it part of your kids lives.

You don't have to be so strict on the devices. Just be smart. Instead of an iPad I gave mine a 3DS with Minecraft and a ton of puzzle games. I actually think Pokemon helped with his reading.
When they were around one, I started wrestling with them. This had a lot of benefits, and they weren't total wussies when they fell on the playground or something. Also, when out try to refrain from picking them up. Wait until you know they are actually tired.
Last, bring a camera, Not your phone.

the reason i don't homeschool my kids has nothing to do with what they can learn from a book. i can teach them that no matter what. what they learn at school is how to function as an independent person outside my zone of influence, and how to interact with other people, both personally and in groups.

A public school (and most private schools) are age-segregated hothouses with no curation of the sort of people your kids interact with. The end result isn’t a socially well-rounded individual, but someone who only knows how to talk to people their own age, with an unhealthy view of everyone older than them as an authority figure and everyone younger than them as irrelevant. In most schools, kids either learn to be bullies or to see themselves as a victim.

A disproportionate number of my most intelligent friends are homeschooled. The ones whose parents put in some effort into socialization (through church programs, Boy Scouts, etc.) are way better socially adjusted than most of my friends who went to “normal” school.

I went to public school for 7 years and then private middle and high schools. I will absolutely not be sending my children to public school ever. I’ll probably homeschool them until they’re 11 or 12 and then consider sending them to an elite private school.

Start him out at a state park at around 5. The normally have a couple miles of easy trails perfect for kids and when you're young they still seem huge. When he gets older buy him some traps, furs aren't worth shit but to a kid the money is great and he will learn so much more than just hiking/fishing/hunting.

Remove all plastic they might put in their mouth. Basically all plastic toys.
A pile of 2x4 is will provoke their creativity 10x more then a shiny flash noise-maker. Look to give them tools, not finished products, not finished products.
Don't let them use a computer or TV until 14. This isn't /out/ related so I won't go into why.
Get a comfortable kid carrier. Take them for walks as often as you can.
There's going to be a transition period where they can't walk far but is to heavy for the carrier. This is as good a time as any to do short walks to a beach, pond, river, have a picnic and swim.
In general, your kids will enjoy everything they do with you. Just make it fun and rewarding - tell them stories as you walk along.
Make sure your hikes are adapted to his capacity.
My daughter absolutely adores rock climbing and boldering. I encourage her to climb any tree or rock we come across.

Exposure is the key. Normalising outdoor activities in a world which pushes indoor, screen based behaviour.

Do not give them a tablet or device. By all means let them use one supervised, use it to show them the outdoors they can see.

Start camping early. Back garden is fine, get them used to the canvas. Teach them skills, whittling is ideal, willow branches and a potato peeler. Make those hand have skills other than swiping.

Science? What materials make the best den
Maths? How many weeks until the winter? Squirrels need X nuts to survive Y weeks. How many do they need to collect?

You can teach just about anything outdoors. The important thing is to stay away from the electric Jews.

That's why I use 4chan. On other platforms people often fall for the conception that almost everything anyone says is true because it often is like this and the mind gets used to this. But when someone tries to shill obvious bullshit the users don't get that sceptical because they are used to honest users.
Now on 4chan I assume everyone talks bullshit. Because it is like that most of the time my mind gets used to being very sceptical about everything I read on here. We live in the age of information and have more access to extracurricular activities than ever before.
