What are some fun things to do outdoors? Not just general hiking and the like, but specific goals and activities you can do to improve your skills. What are some things I should know how to do?

whittling, fire making, cooking, reading real maps and symbols (trail markers, hobo codes, etc), tracking animals, running, morse code, ham radio, hunting, fishing, rock hunting, plant ID, metal detecting, stone skipping, scavenging

their are a lot of guides to hobo codes on the internet. are these legitimate? do hobos use them? how do i know which ones are the real deal?

Also what do you mean be "scavenging" could you enlighten me on that? like collecting trash for later use? or like literal buzzard style scavenging?
