>>1698970I spend at least half of my time in the woods, most of it alone. I consistently get bored when there is nothing to do, and so does everyone else I have gone outside with.
You are a true hippy thinking that being close to nature will make you into some kind of peaceful creature of the forest. Humans have always been bored, hence the existence of music, theater, dance, art, storytelling, etc, that have been around nearly as long as people have.
People experience peace and tranquility in nature as a response to the lack of stresses that exist only in the city, and as soon as you are accustomed to nature you realize that it has its own stresses and challenges and don't feel so "tranquil" anymore.
Negative emotions aren't a symptom of society either. Do you think people aren't anxious when they see storm clouds coming? Are they discontent when they run out of firewood or their kid broke his leg falling from a tree? So if these negative and often subconscious emotions aren't exclusive to modern life, why is the boredom not found anywhere else?
I think you have an overly idealistic view of nature. I don't think you have spent enough time outside to know that tranquility simply doesn't exist outside of your own mind, and it is foolish to look for it anywhere other than within yourself.
