it's literally the route google maps gives you, i was just using it to get an idea of the distance. thanks for the tips. I definitely want to stay near alot of the roads so i pass through towns every few days, that way i don't have to take shitloads of foodstuffs with me. also i do indeed like fields and woods over elevation

I did a few quick outings 2-3 around the Northwest of France, where I live.
Also 3 day hike around Bilbao, and I'm doing a 2 day 80km in Black Forest in april (I'm the anon who made the thread in the catalog) and the"dry stone" GR in Mallorca in May.
For this summer, I was consideringTour du Mont Blanc, but I'm afraid it'll bea crowded, so I'm looking at a three week stretch between Alps and Massif Central, I'm thinking Tour du thabor+Stevenson Road

And you, what are the plans?

I'll be running a marathon in April, I run 3 times a week (hiit, fast 10k, slow long outing) +lift 1-2 times a week. Right now my 10k time is 50mn, looking to bring it under 45mn. So not an athlete, but I'd say top 10% compared to males of the same age (33 boomer)
Experience in terms of mountainering and bushcraft is where I have progress to make. I'm not from a mountain area, so I'm learning slow, max autonomy I ever did was 5 day without a re-up

I'm going in May, so I guess no :) If your parents told you about any sites of interest in Mallorca, I'd be happy to hear about it though

In terms of navigation I use a gps app, so I guess pretty low level skills, but I did get around a few times using the sun as a rough compass when hiking instructions failed me, before I found out about the app

Fairly easy until you get to Canterbury.
Route is based on using long distance paths with accomodation etc nearby.
Take the Via Franigenia from Rome to Calais
Ferry to Dover

Take the North Loop of the North Downs Way to the through Canterbury. When you see London. Head north till you hit the River Thames
Follow the Thames path West, Till you hit Oxford.
From Oxford Head North to Coventry and pick up the Heart of England Way heading North to join the Staffordshire way.
Keep North to Manchester then head east a bit to join the Pennine way.
Keep North till you hit the wall.
Your choice is then to go West to Carlisle or East to Newcastle

Let us know if you decide to go for it. I'll buy you a pint and a meal in London.

Exactly. If i wanted beautiful unique nature i'd stay in australia and walk around the outback and our mountain ranges. we don't have the rolling hills and temperate birch/evergreen forests like you guys do, and that's the kind of environment i get captured by since it's so alien to the things i usually see around the country roads

Make sure you pass by the Arènes, Pantheon, and pay a visit to the Cluny Thermae. Walking along Saint-Jacques st. which was used as the cordo maximo as reference for the whole city planning.
