>>1704211The almond blossom season varies but is generally late Jan/early Feb, that's my favorite time to visit -- although if you want to climb any of the higher mountains without technical gear, it's better to wait until late March/April. Everywhere south of Marrakech is exploding with color in the first 6 months of the year, and an abundance water from snowmelt makes it easy to keep going.
Maps are tricky. Commercial maps of the Toubkal region do exist but are hard to find. For everywhere else, I honestly just memorize terrain from google earth and prepare myself for being lost.
The Soviets did an aerial survey of the whole country; I found their detailed topo maps on some Texas university website, but I doubt they're very accurate, and don't show any of the new roads.
A good tip for any region that's unmapped is to sign up for a free trial account with ArcGIS, screencap their maps of whatever region you're visiting, stitch them together, and fuck around with the contrast in photoshop so the topo lines are visible when you print.
