Late last year I spent 2 weeks /out/ homeless in the national forest. It was essentially a fluke of events that caused me to come back out for a while, and I've wound up getting paid to stay with an elderly fellow.for a bit.

Before what should be a permanent return to the forest I intend to use some of my earnings to acquire a CCW and pistol. Other than 2 nights with a group of fall break highschool lads camping nearby, every night I had to will myself out of fears of psycho hermits getting me.

I've spent years camping and paddling solo in the boreal. I was respectful and smudged daily, broke camp leaving only the charcoal from my fires. Nothing ever harmed me aside from my own mistakes, not to say there were no scary times. I've never been to a US national park but I imagine if there are primordial beings they aren't very happy with you guys.
