Hey /out/ , new to the board. I’m new to the biking scene, and want to get into mountain biking, but all my bikes are rust heaps/severely bad, looking to get a new mountain bike. Suggestions?

Get the base model of any trusted brand. I personally recommend Trek because I've owned a few and love them, and the quality and manufacturer support are second to none for the price bracket.

BUY USED! bikes are some of the most marked up items in existence. You can't go wrong with anything from trek, giant, or specialized Made in the last 15 years. Also if you are buying used you are going to need to learn basic maintenance.
