I flew as a bush pilot in Alaska and in Montana for 20 years. The first plane I flew was a twin engine Cessna Bobcat. Outstanding plane until I sold it. I delivered everything from medicine, food, fuel, water, ATV's, Snow machines, horses, and people.
I took a loan out for a old DC-3 at $155,000. In just 2 years I had it paid off and then I flew more cargo and people. Me and 3 buddies flew the old gal for almost 15 years. We had to rebuild the engine, replace the fuel lines, replace the other engine, and replace the landing gear 4 times. It was a lot of upkeep for a 60 year old bird, but it was reliable in the worse of conditions.
I also did forest fighting and search and rescue. Mostly scouting and airdropping supplies until a true rescue plane small enough can fly in and rescue them.
