Speaking of, I saw a pair of Vise Grips with a knoife on it today, and I’m kinda kicking myself for not getting it. The ones I saw didn’t have the bit holder tho, but it was the Irwin which are decent quality tools.

Maybe 2 years ago I got a Leatherman Wave for $45. Was looking for a gift for the GF’s dad for Xmas, at Sears and was about to grab the Rebar or whatever is around $50, and at the last minute was like “Nah, if I get him a Leatherman, I’m gonna do right and get a Wave”. It was priced $90 or $100 like they always are everywhere because Waves never go on sale, and then rang up like $47 after tax, I guess it was on clearance but never marked down.

There was a 2nd one still on the shelf and I was so tempted to grab it for myself, but Christmas was coming up and I had to spend on everybody else so I passed on it.

Came with the better leather sheath too, I think those retailed for $99 everywhere. Still regret not getting the 2nd.

My $7 Walmart multimeter is another favorite though, I think they were $39 originally but a couple stores never marked them down, and they had 2 more left. Great throwaround meter that lives on my work bench because I’m not afraid to spill coffee on it

I always end up lookin at the hardware store stuff, Milwaukee has some cool rechargeable lights, their stuff is all expensive but it normally works well and if it shits out, go right back to Home Depot and tell them to exchange it.

I’m probably going to grab pic related next time I‘m at HF and see how it is. Most of their newer Braun branded lights are actually pretty good if you catch them on sale. I‘m sure you can get good deals online, but I like to fingerfuck the stuff before buying it.

It's a Nite Ize magnetic keychain carabiner. I use it because it easily detaches when I use my car key section. I don't want the other section with all the gadgets weighing down my ignition.

It's pretty nifty. If I'm worried about it coming loose from just the magnet strength alone, you can twist the swivel so it stays screwed on tightly.

It's the most recent version of the Gerber suspention. I had the older model for the longest time that comes with a belt holster but I gave that one to a family member and got the updated version for simplicity sakes. I don't really like how bulking the pouch feels on my belt so the pocket clip was a win for me.

Oh and the Jap officer’s sword, tried to translate some of the stuff from the tang, it was made a little later in the war (if my moon runes was right) and one of the stamps means it came from a real certified blade maker.

I think there was a German pistol at some point too but my dad sold it for drugs.

I wanted to get a small SAK for my keychain - dual-layer only, because 3 is oversized and 4+ is just stupid. Ended up buying Victorinox Tinker Small (84mm version of 91mm Tinker/Spartan, aka Tourist with a Philips screwdriver). It's not quite a keychain-sized knife, but I hope that it will not be too big for this use case.

At first I considered 58mm, but those look more like toys than actual tools. And they're overpriced - 58mm Rambler with no accessories would cost me the same as 84mm Tinker Small with official™ Victorinox-branded chain/quick release + a straight pin that is stored inside the scales.

>notice that whoever originally paired this up used a tractor with no power connection for the liftgate, so they tucked the power cable back in the bunch of lines without it being hooked up and were delivering stuff relying on the batteries in the trailer but they were never being charged
>can’t drive like this with gate hanging open off the back an inch from the ground, also with security escort on tarmac of busy airport so getting a tow or new truck or any fix is going to be a giant headache
>jump in cab, weigh options, see old PC charger cable that is never used, hack that shit off with muh knoife, 3 small wires that would burn up if I tried to use those, strip them and twist them together to make thicker wire
>open battery box on tractor, loosen + terminal, crimp one end of hacked wires in the terminal, jam other half into power plug going to trailer’s liftgate
>rev engine and give it a couple minutes to charge just in case small wire burns up from liftgate trying to draw all the power at once
>IT WORKS!!! liftgate folds up and I get off tarmac and back to home base.

I'm a different anon but the LCP II is the bee's knees. I prefer the G43 for most edc but the LCP II comes with me on runs and when I just want to wear gym shorts around the house. If you buy one, shoot it a lot. Some have extractor issues that need work.

If you choose to carry one, please carry with a proper holster and one in the chamber.

When I’m /out/ and about in the woods, the knife I usually have on me is my modified Morakniv Basic 511. Cheap enough that I don’t have to worry about breaking it, and sharp as a razor. I wrapped 3 waterproof matches and a striker on the outside of the sheath with electrical tape and paracord, and have a rubber band to help keep the knife secure. For the knife, I forced a patina (this knife goes through a lot so I thought I’d give it some extra protection), sharpened it quite a few times, and used a bastard file to square off the spine at 90 degrees for a ferro rod. They’re always overly thick because they hold more blades. I have that problem with the Stanley I have been using for years as well. The construction guys must go through blades real quick with drywall, I never need to change blades multiple times when I’m cutting shrink wrap and shit though.

Thinnest one I have used was some oval shaped cheap folders from Walmart that came in a 3-pack, it’s small but you have no knoife if you crack the blade.

If you settle on a thicker one with extra blades, the Milwaukee is supposed to be the GOAT.
