As I wasn't carrying my sawyer at the time I would have used a piece of material to cover the opening to my bottle to act as a crude mechanical filter.
>movingseeing as the source you are talking about is at least moving to some degree I personally would feel happy with just using one treatment. however, as the creek is near your house I would probably check the course of it on a map. Not many backpacking treatments such as the sawyer or aquatabs are designed to deal with man made chemicals and heavy metals. If that creek has any farm run off or dodgey plumbing feeding into it I would look at some more heavy duty cleaning methods.
