Honestly any advice at all would be helpful. I lurk and never post but would love some genuine advice for how to get started. I would be grateful /out/fags

Get into hazardous building inspections, people will pay you to walk through buildings like that testing for lead and asbestos before they tear it all down to build condos
Spend most of my time in schools and hospitals bit have also done a few abandoned churches, papermills, factories and active prisons

Literally just look up abandoned places near me or abandoned places in whatever state you live in. It's that easy. Then use google earth/maps to get the layout. It's that easy.

Never been there, but there's a place in poughkeepsie I like to re-visit every now and then. It's an abdandoned asylum that's structured more like a compass with a small dilapidated center and single floor dormitories scattered on the grounds. But the real attraction is the large industrial building down the road.
