>>1724778Yeah, I get that. I think the feds are doing a pretty good job of it all things considered. It's the governor of New York and the mayor of New York City that one might argue could be doing more in the way of containment.
>>1724781At this point, anybody (even residents) who's been outside the state is supposed to self-quarantine for 14 days after arriving/returning. Additionally, people from the hotspots (including the NYC metro area, Louisiana, and Florida) are being "instructed" not to come here at all unless it's for an essential purpose. It should be noted that the current guidance from the CDC is that residents of New York, New Jersey, & Connecticut are supposed to avoid all non-essential travel out of their respective states, anyway.
And as I said, essentially all lodging here (including Airbnb rentals) is closed to travellers, and all campgrounds are closed. Unless you own property here, or have friends/family to stay with, there's nowhere to stay legally, anyway. And staying with other people would not be consistent with the quarantine.
My information is that fishing and hunting will likely be temporarily restricted to those holding resident licences only (they may end up offering refunds to those who already paid for non-resident licenses). To qualify for resident status you have to actually live here for six months straight first, and not claim residency anywhere else for any purpose.
>>1724823Vermont has the benefit of being too far from NYC for it to be any easy day trip (even Bennington is the best part of four hours from the city). The same mostly holds for Boston. Most of the people with second homes or camps are already here, I think, and have been for a couple of weeks (we think they're the ones who bought up all the toilet paper).
