I'd also recommend Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana. You get marooned on a mysterious island and have to find fellow castaways and build up your castaway village, find vegetable seeds to plant in the garden, find materials for better weapons, clothing, armor, etc. Plus you get a super fun action RPG.
