I live in St Louis, Missouri and don't have a boat, so bass fishing is harder than I would like. There are a few decent lakes in the area, but usually the biggest fish I catch are in the 16-inch, 3 lb range.
The closest bass lake to me is also where the local municipalities dump Christmas trees every year to create crappie environments, which means I am pretty much guaranteed to lose any lure that isn't a Texas rigged soft plastic.
Fortunately the Missouri Department of Conservation has an urban fishing program, and every 2 weeks they stock about 250 1-lb channel catfish in a 5-acre lake by my house. Using a 2-dollar pack of hot dogs, I can catch a limit of 4 fish in 2 hours easy. They are tiny fish, which means they are tender. Since I'm the only one in my family who eats fish, even 2 of those little things is enough for me.
