I have leftover clothes/gear in camouflage. I reckon its larpy to walk around in them and will be hard to walk around in public areas with them. Should I just dye them? Anyone died cams to a solid colour before?

I always thought it was a bit retarded to wear camo gear, whether or not it's for camping. It just makes people look at you weird rather than making you blend in anywhere. If you're going to do it wear your normal clothing in public areas and then get changed when you're deep in the bush.

It's larp to walk around in a full camo outfit. Just pants or shirt is fine. You can't really dye them to completely solid, but some people do dye shitty patterns like ACU to mostly green.

If you wear a camo hat, who cares. if you wear a Partizan Gorka or something on trail, yeah that's weird. If you have a camo poncho for rain, fine, a Flektarn parka for casual hikes, fine. Full hunter camo, weird.

A lot of outdoor companies make their own custom camo patterns for clothing. It all looks fine to me.

I've died desert camo with dark brown fabric paint. Looks pretty cool but a bit to dark for my liking. Keep in mind that the seams mostly are synthetic so that is going to keep the same colour.
