Now that the dust has settled is this actually true? Wouldn't this mean to feed a person 1,500kcal a day in food for a year you would only need 18m squared of land? Couldn't you just grow in the same place every year because you would be replacing the soil? Wouldn't multivitamins and sawyer filtered river water make up the rest?

Delete that and use this image instead. As far as the yield, it is very intensive and if you get the nutrients wrong you'll not reach that. Also see "Homegrowmen" in the catalog.
