>>1720635>Northern WI near Lake Superior>On a quarter section of land>Worried about bears, wolves, FIBs, and meth heads (I presume)Alright OP, I used to live near your location (Minnesota side of the St. Croix, but I think I can help). First thing about your kit is the radio, as others have said. You're better off with a programmable, multi-channel radio instead of carrying two everywhere you go. Keep it on the channel you're more likely to use (the one your wife is on?) and ask her to phone in S&R if necessary.
The tent is pretty redundant if you have the poncho and a saw to process limbs off trees. Real talk, I know that northern Wisco is wooded as fuck, so you'll easily be able to find a tree with a limb wide enough that you can convert your poncho into a makeshift tent. On that note, the string is probably a good idea, but I'd recommend something synthetic like a para-cord of some sort.
You don't need a fighting knife if you have a pistol, and both bears and wolves scare easily enough just be shouting, so two shots should be enough. Meth heads are another story, so I'd recommend keeping a full magazine. If you're looking for an edge for whittling down things like tent stakes or something, your folding knife there would do just fine. Tacticool tomahawk style hatchets are pure gear queer shit, don't even bother.
I want to check, you have a map of the local area in addition to the compass, yes? That's important to your navigation.
With your first aid kid, what all do you have? /out/ has IFAK threads from time to time, and getting a review wouldn't be bad. Generally, you'll want some form of dressing/gauze, bandages (for both splints and dressings), maybe a sewing (stitching) kit, and emergency shears (the kind for cutting cloth). Of course, a boo-boo box and any relevant medications should also be included with bandaids, antibiotic ointment, maybe some ibuprofen. Make sure you know how to use everything in your kit.
