Any show shoe fags on /out/?

Why do I hear people say that Sierra Nevada is inpenetrable at this time of year because of the snow, when these things exist?

i live 4 hours from the sierra, so that's pretty far for just a daytrip (i used to do it for climbing, but now i'm old) and i'd have to upgrade my entire sleep set up to overnight on snow. it's on the list, but behind several /out/ things.

on powder storms winddrifs can be up to 20feet, and its so dry you cant dig it.

right now you can hike it in boots almost, we didnt get much show this year. im going on a 5 mile practice hike in my shoes today
