It depends on what style you are looking for. I personally like the low top (ankle high) boots.
If you are just looking for brand names then I would definitely recommend Merrells. Out of all the boots I have tried, I personally like these the best.

I'm hijacking OP's thread because I don't want to make an entirely new thread for it, but I found a pair of 5.11 tacticool training mids that looked really nice and were only 30 bucks on LA Police Gear, but I wasn't sure as to whether or not I should purchase it or not.

Lundhags are the best, but also expensive. Lowa Tibet Pro or Lowa Baffin Pro are also quite nice.
