What's the best way to convince people who haven't been camping to accompany you on a camping trip?

Find a nice camping spot near a beach or a lake that's not very far from where you park your vehicles. Less than 5 min walk ideally.
Everyone takes a case of beer and their own bag of weed each.
Set up camp, start a fire, hang out and get drunk/high in nature.
Do that a few times and you'll quickly figure out which ones are more suited to maybe something a bit more rugged and /out/, then plan a 5 mile hike-in with those people or something.

Plan three trips. The first at a standard, maintained rec site campground, the second at an easily accessible but unserviced primitive campsite and the third at a hike in only site. Invite a wide group of friends, let them decline each trip as they please. Now you know which friends in your social circle to call on for more advanced /out/ings.

If you even have to "convince" someone, then just don't bother. Camping is fun. If you invite someone and they say no, then it wasn't meant to be and you shouldn't push it. There's nothing worse than going camping with someone who doesn't want to be there.

You sound like a boomer. No. People don't love activities they are forced into. You need to let them discover a reason to go camping on their own. Thinking you can find camping friends by being a pushy asshole is the best way to ensure that everybody is unhappy.

Always start with a very developed campground. I’m talking serious normie stuff like flush toilets. Bring ice chests of beer and food to cook with charcoal. If they don’t have good gear, let them use yours. I’d rather have my friend be cozy in my $250 sleeping bag and have them enjoy the experience, even if i have to suffer myself. Let them “glamp”. People need positive reinforcement. Most people don’t like to leave their comfort zone too much. Its your job to ever slightly expand their comfort zone. After the initial glamping, move onto primitive campsites within walking distance of the cars. Still bring all the excessive food and drink. Do stuff like that a couple more times while trying to bring less creature comforts.

Also if you are trying to get a woman into the outdoors lifestyle, it may be wise to rent a cabin on your first outing.
