I live in the UK and camp all over, just go to a woods, mountains, or hills and get yourself deep into some cover, dont set up camp till dusk and chill out...

Dont be a pussy, noone is going to arrest you, if anyone comes just ensure your camp area is tidy and be polite.

Unless you live somewhere autistic like France, Germany or Austria you should be fine.

Keep good fire discipline, and keep it controllable and small. Otherwise get yourself a little jet boil gas cooker (although not really as fun)

I dont know what Slovenia is like to be honest, but surely there must be some great secluded mountainous places. And I doubt park rangers get paid enough to patrol at night. Go for it man, you get one life, it's our earth, go have fun with it

The same goes for Spain, if you stick to setting up your camp when it's getting dark, don't leave shit behind you and pack up early, you'll be fine.
Although you're not allowed to light up fires, you'll still be able to use a stove

The problem is not "nanny state" like that fat retard >>1736401 said, it's lack of space. Legal or not, if you avoid touristic spots you can have some fun. I bet even in Slovenia you could find someplace remote enough that would be nice.
One day if you've got a free month ahead you should definitely try to hitchhike or rail to Scandinavia though. Up from Dalarna it's pretty much empty and you can have as much forest fun as you like.

The idea is to protect nature from man. It makes sense, since some people are really retarded and do a lot of harm, but I think that ironically it separates people from nature and widens the connection between one and the other.

All the good spots for me are 150-250mi (250-500km ish) from me here in the US.
2-3 hour drive is a small price to pay for alpine solitude.
