Can you boil a nalgene bottle to clean it like you would a babys bottle?
I dont want to melt the cap off or something.
how exactly do you clean it?

I rise mine with very hot water. If you got your's too dirty for that it clean it, I'd say "throw it away and get a new one".

i have a clear one can i purify the water using the sun if i leave it in direct sunlight for 6 hours or so

Which is mainly the reason why BPA was eventually removed: because people do that. Boiling plastic isn't a good idea, even if BPA free anyway.

You need to upgrade if you want to boil it. Not to mention, not having to clean it as often.

Use a mild bleach solution. 1 part bleach to 10 parts total (the rest should be water) will clean anything, and it is mild enough to use on stainless steel, too. Soak for 10 minutes. This also removes coffee or tea stains from porcelain!

>not knowing that you can just mix salt and a little bit of water into a paste and just rub off the coffee/tea stains via abrasion

I imagine baking soda would work as well.
