Wore it all day for 3 months working as a guide in Canada. This is what the hat is for: Great traditional style for the tourists, awesome protection from rain, shade for your eyes, durable as fuck. On horseback or in thick brush, you just have to look down to be protected from branches whipping you in the face. It's foldable, you can attach stuff you find to the hat band as a souvenir, and it looks better the more you wear it.
Then I wore it on a hiking trip in Southern France, and it sucked: Way too hot, made me sweat twice as much as everyone else, felt heavy, prevented airflow to the noggin, and the sweat showed as a dark stain in the front, which turned white when it dried. Apparently it also makes all French people stare at you.
It's worth the money and a great piece of gear, but don't wear it when it's really hot, and don't fucking wear it on campus.
