plenty of uninhabited islands so if you prefer you can go out in a boat or even a kayak and camp on those.

Victoria and NSW are the best for /out/. Mt. Kosciusko during the winter months and Coast during the warmer months. Heaps of hiking trails and bike trails all over the place. Tasmania is really good for Mountaineering, very quick to travel to Tasmania from Melbourne.

im more into touring the remote outback, and I don't see those restrictions being lifted for a long long time (years), because if the abos catch the virus they have like a 50% death rate, also remote places have no access to medical care etc.

They're loosening restrictions in a lot of states starting this weekend and from what I've seen and heard of the crowds who are out and about today we're in for a spike in cases.

Strictly speaking though we have a population of 25m and less than 10k infections so yeah, we're doing well.

I only really hike in Victoria. It's okay, not much where I am. East Victoria has the nicer places. If you like a shit load of flies in the summer and pouring rain in autumn and winter then you might like it. The biggest crime to me is how small some of our nature preserves are. Many times i've climbed a mountain just so the great view I get is a bunch of shitty ugly fields. Maybe its just because I was born and raised here that i'm not as grateful or maybe I just haven't seen all the best sights but to me I think you can find plenty of better /out/ countries

Only just starting to get into bushcraft here in Aus. Personally I always wish I could go hiking in Scandinavian forests rather than the scrubby bushland here but hey maybe the grass in greener on the otherside

I'm from Gippsland, West Victoria is great for bike trails but its just too dry and flat for my taste. Have you seen much of the Australian Alps?
West Victoria has a couple gems though. The Grampians, the whole of Otway National Park, , the Coast... but that's more southwest isnt it

I crossed the WA border a few hours before they closed. I was planning on just camping in WA till this blew over, but I kept listening to the news and shit got too strict, I turned around at belladonia and went back to victoria. I was looking forward to seeing WA, that was the first time I went there. fucking bad luck

yeah. i flew past most of it though trying to make it to the border before it closed, and on the way back I was too depressed to give a shit. I did camp for a week on the beach near eucla, saw a few caves and the cliffs at the bight. but when this is all over I could easily spend a month crossing the nullarbor alone.
