>>1751706Austria is planning to do a mix of introducing new (invasive...) species and promoting natural forests. Currently quite a few projects underway to map out what will grow well at which locations in the future, to advise the Forrest owners.
But with the thousands of FPÖ voting small owners, they’re likely just going to replace their dying spruce with new spruce plantations like their grandpa while demanding that the stupid national park next door just has to spray against them stupid beetles and everything will be fine.
(They’re somewhat “right” however, since the whole wood industry depends on spruce and if you wanna love of you forest, you don’t have many other options, but that’s a whole nother problem in itself and doesn’t really change the facts that your spruce will die , but if you’re not educated, I can understand your thinking)
>>1751710Sure, not looking for vast wilderness, but I’d like to be at least 10km away from the net forest road and 5km from the busy hiking trail.
