The Traditional Bowyer's Bible volumes 1 and 2 can be had for $10-20 a piece and contain ridiculous amounts of information on making selfbows.

You can make bows from boards from your local lumber supply for cheap.

The tools you will need are a hand saw, a draw knife, a wood scraper, a small round file, some dacron b50 string, a rasp, some sandpaper, and a pocket knife.

If you buy used tools and those books you can come out around $100. You can make your own arrows easily out of many different materials by either reading in these books or watching videos on youtube.

i just juniper/bamboo/oak to make mine
on occasion i use mimosa tree aswell

just use youtube for guides and if you cant get by with a knife and some decent cordage theres something wrong

Well are you thinking more like a stick bow of some kind like a recurve or longbow? I haven't shot one in a long time but you can get your hands on them and compound bows at a local archery shop or big sporting goods place. Most will let you test shoot a bit too.

I'm not really sure about cheap or entry level stuff but I bet you could find a decent setup for under $80. You can also find like youth model compound bows but most serious ones will be at or above $150 pretty quickly.

I hunt with a bow, a Hoyt. Depending where you live there are likely quite a few shops that can assist you further with measurements and stuff, most let you shoot there.

Making proper bows from trees is not the easiest thing for a beginner to do. You have to find an acceptable tree with straight grain and free of knots for a beginner. You then have to cut it down seal the ends, split it into staves and then let them dry which can take a few months or more.

Mimosa wood is too brittle for a good bow unless you use all heartwood, and then it's still not great.

I'm sure you can find a bow for yourself, no worries.
Look up a traditional bow shop in your area, or find some bowyers' forums for MUCH better help than on here.
Something like the PaleoPlanet forum would be a great place to get some information on traditional archery.
