Hello, /out/.

I'd like to ask you some questions about long-term isolated living deep innawoods. I have a good sense of basic survival aspects, but there are some things I have yet to grasp.

Is hunting and gathering a viable means of living outside of a tribe? How does one preserve meat in areas that aren't extremely cold? How good is smoke at repelling bugs? Are there any natural means of skin protection from the sun? Would it be better to build a permanent shelter or carry a smaller, deploy-able one on my back?

Lastly: If I walk deep in to a wilderness area with a pack on my back and a strong will in my head, how long can I stay before I absolutely must leave?
