Some guy lived in a shack in Maine for 27 years stealing food and supplies from nearby campgrounds before he got arrested for it. Said he'd only spoken to one person, a hiker, in all those 27 years. He was also fat white trash who listened to Rush Limbaugh every day, but you could learn something from him. It's not self-reliance since you're stealing from society, but it's the next best thing. You could steal from nearby stores and supermarkets if you feel guilty about robbing summer camp kids.
