Those signs are up for YOUR protection, believe me.
We have many areas that have cliffs, quicksand, and just generally huge areas where people can get lost.
No land owner wants to find someone who walked off a cliff trespassing at night, nor do they want people growing pot or flinging rounds on their property.
If you ask the property owners for permission to hike/pass through, most will be okay with it. They'll usually tell you the property lines, what they don't want you doing, and what they're okay with.
If they don't want you there, that's their right because they own the land.
Property value in KY is, at the low end, $2400 and acre. I don't want someone sneaking on to camp out, only to leave a fire going that could potentially burn down large areas and do crop damage.
No property owner just runs around shooting at noises, that's something only an absolute idiot would do. Bottom line is that if you're on their property and something happens to you, they could possibly be responsible for you well being so they don't want to get sued if someone's dumb ass does something to get themselves or others hurt.
