Only places that I really thought was better than where I've lived my entire life was US National Parks, they truly filled me with a wonderment and feeling that I hadn't really lived until that point.

If Central Texas had less people and structures I'd enjoy it a lot more. Also if I could actually backpack around instead of having to deal with fences everywhere.

it's usually because we spend a lot of time outside exploring as kids, then we grow up and go years and years without going outside and exploring much, when we finally decide to, it's usually on a vacation somewhere that you just never feel like you belong, whether it be language or cultural barriers, plus you aren't familiar with the place. you long for that feeling of how big the world seemed as a kid. we never stop and look at the details once we are adults.

Feel the same way. Live up in the North Cascades.

Travelled all over looking for a better place to live but nothing compared so far.

I did a road trip there last week and passed Marblemount. I was trying to get to Winthrop but got turned around. Was still beautiful.

Born and raised in VT. Traveled to 24 countries and the two I want to get back to are New Zealand and Kyrgyzstan.

I lived in LA my entire life, moved to CO 4 years ago. CO is nice and I enjoy being here way more than being in LA.

But, I do miss the Sierras. It was my home base for many years and its where I got into backpacking / hiking. Every summer I wish that I could go back and spend some time there.

I feel you buddy, I grew up with views of Hood, St. Helens, Adams, and Rainier on a clear day from my house. Spent so much time on hood during the winters and summers alike, and summers swimming and fishing in the lakes and rivers around home. There's no place like it and I will eventually move back when it's time to have kids, because I want them to have what I had growing up.
