Looking for a hat primarily for the garden, but also any general purpose ones that provide good sun coverage and breathability in major heat. Somebody told me felt but that seems like it would get mighty sweaty. pic unrelated

If the quality hasn't already dropped substantially since 2015 I'd be surprised. Unfortunately this is the lifecycle now days of nearly every product. As soon as something gets a name for itself it gets bought out and quality immediately drops.

I pull those out of my feet at least once a week. They hurt in the spring but by mid summer my callouses are thick enough to absorb them.

But... I know it says it’s 100% cotton, but make sure the sweat band around the inside is a natural breathable fibre, or you’ll get a heat rash. I had a cheapish bush hat and paid the price with my forehead

You're probably looking at pictures of faggy models with new hats on their head. You're supposed to break it in though, it doesn't look like that in practice. It's a boonies hat it develops the ripples associated with a boonie hat wherever they best block the sun for you, like regular ball cap in the front, and tilts down with no ripple kn the back to protect your neck
