That being said most people learn fires naturally and just develop better methods without such informative guides. I myself started with log cabin style just because it was simple and aesthetically pleasing, then I started teepees because I saw it in movies and finally I've found that lean to is my favorite as you get a great base that also is a nice windbreak, plus your starter log will eventually become the heart of your fire and you can just add logs behind it to keep the lean to shape. Very little fussing with a lean to and you don't have to worry about its integrity or reshaping because you just add fuel in the same manner over and over.
Star fires are easily the worst and that one I learned from a survival show because it just simply is not intuitive. The idea behind it is that you can control the flame simply by pulling the logs out or pushing them in, but that's not something that's really necessary.
