>>1770751True, but not necessarily a reason to an hero. There are quite a few variables at play.
1st: 85% of all snake bites are what you call dry bites. This means there is no venom in their fangs and they are giving you a warning bite. This is because snakes will only have venom in their fangs if they are hunting prey. We are not prey, so if we stumble on a snake but chance and somehow get bit, it won't have venom loaded
2nd: The majority of snakes only have very short fangs. There are a few highly venomous snakes that obviously don't follow this rule, so research your local snake population. The reason for snakes having short fangs is because their prey is thin skinned. Snakes also have a reflex when they strike that will bite as soon as they touch its target. This works in our favour as snakes will usually strike a boot/shoe/trouser leg and the fangs won't even touch the skin.
3rd: If you are unlucky enough to get bit on the skin by a snake that has venom loaded fangs, while yes it will enter tissue, it wont enter your cardiovascular system quickly if you take the right precautions. These are to pressure bandage the affected area straight away and to remain as calm as possible to limit the flow of blood through you body. The venom will enter your lymphatic system first and will have to reach a lymph node before spreading into you cardiovascular system. With a properly applied pressure bandage this could take as long as 20 hours. Yes, you'll be sick as fuck, may lose and arm but you won't die.
What peeps need to remember is 95% of snakes are not aggressive. They will never hunt humans. They are defensive creatures who only strike if they think they need to protect themselves. If you see a snake, back away slowly and walk around it. Simple as. Don't pick it up, don't try and get a selfie, don't use it as a dildo. As I said in another post in this thread, only idiots get bitten by snakes.
