For me, it's reading about some edible plant I've never heard of before and then finding it after building up so much excitement around it. Foraging is like a mini treasure hunt.

Isolation, knowing there isn't anyone around for miles. I like trails in the winter when normies clear out, I like getting into dense back country or getting out on the water when no one else is. I always dreamed of moving to the far north but I haven't figured that out yet, I spent some time in Yellowknife though and it was amazing.

"An animal being hunted", in this case, squirrel. Not really out looking for squirrels this time of year, was hoping to bag a turkey, but this little guy did me good. Fried in Bacon fat, seasoned with salt and pepper. Wish I could have cooked him a little longer at lower temp to make the meat a little less tough, but the wood was quick burning and dry.
