My hammock + bug net + straps +tarp weigh almost as much as my tent and take up more room because of the damned straps. I really don't understand why hammockfags think they are superior.

I enjoy using my hammock at wooded lake campsites. It has its purpose especially during summer. But when you pack everything it is actually bulkier and has more specific site selection.

I've seen hammocks, but almost never, and only at campgrounds. Camping and /out/ is quite different in Aus than NA, people do different things and have a different approach and also most of Aus isn't particularly suitable for hammocks. No large deciduous forests, it's all savannah and rainforest and nobody in Aus wants to be knee-deep in heavy grass, thorns, reeds, and palms when there are like 14 different snek and spiders that can kill you

Yeah, you definitely bought the wrong shit. It’s both tiny (9’ 4” while the industry standard is 11’) and heavy. The bug net is probably the worst design on the market and insanely heavy for what it is. The straps are literally twice the size of a cinch buckle suspension.

Hammocks are generally heavier and bulkier because you’re using two quilts. Your setup is just garbage.

Sleeping in a hammock is not the same as a bed. In a bed or tent I sleep on my side, with no possible way if ever even consider trying to sleep on my back. But in a hammock I sleep sort of in between my side and back.

As a sleeper, I like to toss and turn, and when the whole thing starts to slide from under the tarp, you have a big problem.

it's ackchully designed to work fin pulled taught because of the way it's cut, plenty of slack to lie diagonal, also I prefer it tight rather than low. I do have the option of using a ridgeline I just don't. Been ham-mucking about for over 15 years, I'm good.
