I have admited defeat, guys.

I've got a sleeping pad like pic related. Due to me having a rather wide nylon hammock, the narrow pad slips around and in sub zero temperatures it gets cold as fuck.

Anyone here know a good non-slip pad? I've looked at a Klymite one, but they're expensive as hell

Get the klymit. I have the biggest insulated for my Hennessy expedition asym and it was perfect for January in Idaho. The extra wings are clutch

No because the way the the pad curves with the bag, the wings meet up and basically give you side walls of insulation. Without them my arms and sides would get way colder. Also the klymit pad has tacky spots on top and bottom. No sliding.

Those superlight pads are also super noisy on top of the other downsides you have mentioned. I exclusively hammock camp all year and even installed a hammock in my bedroom in an apartment I rented near a gig I did one winter in Colorado. What has always worked for me is the Thermarest Trail Pro Large. It doesn't seem to slip, is quiet when I toss and turn, and keeps me warm.

You want an under quilt. You can make one from the cheapest summer sleeping bag you can find. Will cost about $30 total.

the lux almost fills a 2 person tent, they are pretty nice, but i find if it cold out side, your warm breath shrinks as the temps drop, so you kinda got to blow it up twice

They have the V2 out now, just recommended a friend to get it for normal backpacking where the temp doesn't drop below 35. Was really fucking cheap during the weekend too, great product.

When you reach cold temps you need to invest in an air pad that's in the $150 range because those things do quite literally everything right, just a shame about the price is off putting for people just getting into the activity.

I have a 50 dollar cot and 20 dollar pad that I used when it dropped below freezing a few weeks ago and it did me just fine. Warm socks and a stocking cap are key as that's where your body loses most of its heat.

the cot is what did it for you, you lose a lot of warmth to the ground. wool socks, gloves, and a hat are with me on every trip.

have you ever slept on an expensive pad before? don't mean to sound snotty about it, but they are light as you can get and are night and day difference in terms of temperature control compared to cheaper pads.

obviously to each their own, but during the winter with sub zero i've stayed toasty with a good down bag and a fancy pad. i've tried taking my V2 in cold conditions and it's miserable lmao

I've had tons of different Pads, Exped is the way to go if you want to sleep comfortably, way better than Klymit or Thermarest. I own one of the thick and extra wide Synmat ones, packs small, inflates well, super comfortable.
