thoughts on MEC?
it seems to me that their quality has been on the downward slide to china tier shit lately. I have some 20+ year old shit that is still in good shape but the newer stuff just doesn't feel as good or sturdy.
anyone else noticing this ?

Pretty meh on most of their house brand stuff. But meh is good enough for lots things. Don't cheap out on the big items, but for stupid/non critical little shit, MEC brand is fine. They're also carrying more and more other name brands as well, which helps.

I think they've been on the downward slide since the early 2000s, but it's gotten especially bad in the last few years. They used to have decent gear at good prices, some of it made in Canada, but now prices have gone up and service, quality, and selection have all gone down. And whenever they do accidentally make something good, it's usually discontinued when I want to get another.
