i would like to have a theory-based discussion. i'm not looking necessarily for brands of boots or anything of that sort.
what i am looking for is a discussion on the pros and cons of combat boots vs. hiking boots.
i personally am incredibly comfortable and familiar with combat boots after having worn them for 17 years, however i have to wonder if hiking boots would better suit my needs in the wilderness.
also, i guess it needs be said, i have no issues spending decent money on boots. i stopped wearing mil issue years ago, and have spent a fair amount of cash on really nice ones. so lets skip the "surplus boots are tough but uncomfy" thing.
odd fact: they were never uncomfortable to me, except during the break in period for each pair. i gave up on the mil issued boots because i was destroying them in under 6 months.
