>>1778234It’s all good. We can call each other larpers and faggots later. The real question: why does anyone need a 60L pack, outside of traveling? There’s no reason for it, other than “I’m poor and down is expensive.”
The consensus is already in that external frames carry heavy weight better over moderate terrain (if it’s very rugged then all of this goes right out the window). But what qualifies as “heavy?” Well, if everything you’re bringing requires a 60L pack, it’s heavy.
Heavy loads should be carried close and high, etc etc. Basic stuff that we all know. This is easier to do with an external frame, and in some cases nearly impossible with an internal frame.
>why does everyone do it?Because everyone is dumb. They see the people that got good, the awesome Insta pics, the triple crown hikers, and no one is using an external frame.
When the British were exploring Canada, they lost hundreds of people to frostbite and exposure because they were using gear designed for a more temperate climate. It took them years to realize they could just adapt to what the Eskimos has been doing for thousands of years.
