I want to buy a kayak, but have no way to store one atm. When I move out of this crap apartment I'm definitely buying one though. I really want to just go out onto a lake and have a beer staring at the waves slapping my kayak and hearing friendly froggos in the distance.

Kek, but I think the aversion comes from spending so much time outside in winter, where getting wet is a little more than an inconvenience, so I endeavor to keep myself dry all of the time. I get anxious if my wrists get wet when I wash my hands, lest it drip down my sleeves and get my clothing wet.

Just bought my firsy kayak. The seat is bolted stuck 1 cm to the right of center, making a 2cm gap on the left side of the kayak to the seat, while the seat is touching the right side. is this normal, or is it bad production? note: only the part of the seat supporting your back is this way, the rest is centered.

tl;dr are kayak seats supposed to be crooked or is it because i bought the cheapest model

I've seen people just put the kayak on a dolly and attach the kayak directly to the bike somehow. Also seen plans for kayak carts made from PVC.

no lakes near me, but I have kayaked/canoed before and it's a lot of fun. I have other ways of connecting with nature so I don't mind not being able to kayak, though it would be nice to do it more often.

yeah, i actually went back to the store and turns out all of them are straight up poor production. i guess the chinese assemblers were coughing as they mounted the seat lol

This is my cheap wallyworld kayak, the tan sit-top on the left. Just flashflooded a day earlier and went down a 10mi section of Pea river.

Can confirm, I was at one point without a vehicle for a short time and the water was so close in the new area I had moved to I purchased two of the sets of wheels to strap to the back and we walked two kayaks down a big hill and back up they work and would be great on a bike with a solid tow line.

I wouldn't be able to kayak in a place like that solo. I'm a very paranoid person and that place looks like it's dangerous in my mind. It's an odd feeling. I can swim in the north sea on my own in winter when there's a real chance of hypothermia and I feel safe. Then there's other times during the summer where I could see a very obvious trail along a small hill and my mind just says no. A place like that just makes my mind say no. It's different with someone tagging along though, the nagging feeling is there but I can actually do it.

I've only been sea kayaking myself. It's really nice to just sit in the middle of a big body of water while the waves gently push you around.

I'll be sure to bring my fishing rod the next time.
