Any tips for catching a fox with a havahart? I wore gloves and rinsed it with a hose to keep my sent off, put it in a shaded area next to some ferns and used a a can of cat food as bait with the lid left to the side to help attract it

Foxes won't fall for a live trap. Foxes are smart enough to know what a trap is if they can see it, which is why a well hidden box trap or foot hold is the only way you're going to catch it. Have you seen what's eating your crops? It's probably not a fox.

Wtf are you talking about. It's no longer trapping season but I can almost guarantee that if op is in the USA, he can trap and kill a fox that is being a nuisance. The only state that might be an exemption is commiefornia. He probably won't be allowed to relocate it because foxes are rabies vectors and that's usually illegal.

It can be hard to tell. If you haven't seen a fix, it's probably not a fox. Fox don't go for gardens much.

Your method with the live trap and cat food works perfect for raccoon, and you don't need to disguise scent with them. Racoons will fuck up a garden. If it's being dug up it probably would be raccoon or rabbit.

Within city limits killing the fox once trapped may be a problem though.

In my eurocuck country trapping foxes and Badgers in your suburb backyard is perfectly legal but it's illegal to club them to death and you're not allowed to shoot a gun within the city.

99% chance it raccoons or deer tearing up your garden. Foxes mainly live off of mice and what not. They will eat some vegetables but it’s not a go to food for them. They can be live trapped if you tuck the live trap under some brush preferably as natural looking as you can make it. Honestly the easiest way to dispatch a critter is with a 22 to the head. There are other ways as well. We have a C02 kill box at work but it takes a long time Some guys will drown them as well. If it’s injured sometimes the fastest and safest way is a good crack on the head with the back of an axe. If you are going to release it take it as far away as you can and drop it off in a more natural habitat instead and f the green belts in and around town.

Foxes eat small mammals for the most part, they’re not all that keen on your green beans. I’d be baiting for other animals. Rabbits and deer are usually the real dickheads when it comes to gardens
