I need some help and/or advice concerning hammocks and related equipment. I've been looking around and checking reviews the last few days, but I'm at a loss what I need. I'm new to hiking in general, but I visited a relative when he stayed in Nepal and we walked for four days between guest houses, but it was fantastic just to enjoy the fresh air and not be holed up in a city. Some parts were pretty brutal for me, but I got through alright.
I'm going to go hike in my country during my vacation in a months time or so. The temperature during the nights is going to range around 8-12 degrees C (46-53 F) on avarage. I'm 183 cm (6') tall, and overweight at 105 kg (230 lbs). What setup should I look for? Should I buy a hammock, underquilt, inflatable mattress, sleeping bag, and a tarp? Or can/should I skip the underquilt or mattress? If I should only bring one then I assume the mattress would be the better choice for me since there are lean-to's and such along the many trails in my county. Would a sleeping bag still be essential if I decide to sleep in my merino wool clothes? I assume yes. What hammocks and related gear do you recommend? Inflatable mattress or a firm one? What tarp would be good? I've read good things about Warbonnet, and that they have good options for us fatsos. Price isn't that much of a factor if it means the gear is good and I can sleep well.
And yes, I'm new at hiking in general, but I grew up on the country side and miss being out in nature.
