I've taken a course in machine learning and I've considered implementing ML models, but it's not necessary and often performs worse than simple binomial, possion, or logistic regression. The most successful gambler in history made a billion dollars gambling on horses using a simple logistic regression model, manually choosing paramaters, no ML. Granted, his methods of data collection and choosing parameters was cutting edge and unfeasible by your average joe, but the notion that ML or "AI" as you put it is some magic Oracle is ridiculous. By "should net me 10% returns" I mean it *will* net me 10% returns per season. I'll end up losing 35 to 40% of bets, but that's still 60 to 65% bets won.
