>>1787941I did this for 6 months in an 87 Toyota Van.
Some great times. Here's my best tips:
Get a mini-fan that can plug into usb and a usb battery brick that can power the fan thru the night.
Never sleep in the same spot 2 nights in a row, for sleeping, look for apartment complexes where people are parked outside on the street, pull up behind the cars parked on the street and quietly slip to the back for the night.
You an build a bed frame with plywood that has scissor jacks for legs, then you can adjust the height of the bed or level it out if you're parked on a slope (which will be often)
It sounds like you'll be travelling, but I was working full time and in town 5 nights a week, I found a co-located office building where I could rent a desk for $200/month, was really nice to have a place to chill and use a computer, it even had a shower.
If you are trying to be stealth, get a soccer mom van, like a Sienna or an Odyssey, they will fit in a lot better than a utility van or sprinter in an urban setting
Piss before you go to sleep and get used to pissing into a jug frequently, this is the worst part of vandwelling.
I got a little Mr Heater that was propane powered, but used it maybe 4x, too scary to run that thing in a confined space.
Get a propane stove and put some time, money, and thought into your cooking and dining setup - you won't be saving much money if you're eating out a lot, and you'll be eating trash like fast food. This is key to saving money and your health.
After 2 months you'll feel weird and disconnected from society, after 4 months you'll love this feeling - floating above it all.
Good luck, anon, it's worth it. I'm planning to go back to it someday.
