Does anyone else love the natural camouflage aesthetic? I love the ideal of being about to strip down and make myself nearly invisible. i'll take it over cam paint any day. if anyone else has done this share pics, tips and experience,

Yeah man, I definitely could be better. For sure need to get better at using dead space. I learned a little bit of camouflage in the Army, but they really don't teach you that much. Maybe if I got in with the SOF community they'd cover more advanced stuff like with sniper training obviously. I'm just having fun being autistic with mud n shit tho. For what it is I thought it was cool though

i haven't made a decent ghillie but i have experimented with a cheep Canadian tire version and was surprised how well even that worked. I have a flight suit and time, so maybe soon i should get some burlap and try it out. have you tried any of the primitive route anon?

I haven't done any of the camouflage stuff yet but I think I will soon. It looks like a fun and comfy way to feel even more connected to our mother nature. Is there any advice you have for someone getting started? Like how to not run into some random people when walking back home/to the car lol

lmao the one time people saw me it was an elderly couple on the street when i was walking home and the lady asked “what’s the event” and i autistically just said "no event..." and kept walking. honestly dont worry about people, most have a sense of humour. I can't offer much advice that wouldn't be common sense. just follow some basic camouflage principles (lighten sunken areas and darken protruding areas) it's just been a lot of trial and error. I did find that I had a hard time getting the area around my eyes because I was trying to keep grit out of them. what i found to be the best thing was to wet my fingers with some very watery clay and rub my eyes like you do when you wake up. it leaves a light gray matte around your eyes which is what you'd want to lighten that spot anyway. i got out there with some friends today and we all had a blast experimenting with what did and didn't work. just get out there and mess around with it. it really helps to have a partner look you over too

Natural camouflage is ineffectual because the silhouette of the human body is still visible. Our brains are very good at identifying human silhouettes. You need to break it up. That's what modern camo patterns do, introducing lines which alter the silhouette and confuse our brains.

A ghillie suit is natural camouflage and does a better job at breaking up the silhouette of the human body than uniforms or hunting coveralls made of modern printed camo patterns. Furthermore, should one need to improvise camouflage, OPs method is superior to having no skill set beyond donning mass produced clothes.

You are correct. I had added a bit about why ghillie suits were an exception but I wasn't happy with how I had written it so I removed it. I was referring specifically to the style of camouflage OP is using. Yes, it's far better than nothing and, if you're having fun, OP, then enjoy it! Those are just points I felt important to note.
