>>1792528I'm assuming the "clear solid line" you're referring to is mono or fluorocarbon. JFC put some effort into learning the proper terminology so you don't sound like a moron. Its not that hard.
For fluoro I always use Sunline Sniper FC. Most supple and memory-free fluoro I can find in my local stores. Seaguar Invizx and Abrazx are also good choices, just avoid their Red Label.
For braid I always use an 8-strand one. Can't go wrong with PowerPro Super 8 Slick V2, Sunline Asegai XPlasma, Fireline Ultra 8 in Crystal, or Sufix 832 Advanced. I tend to avoid the standard dark green colour for braid for maximum visibility when casting. I always use a fluoro leader at the end of my braid anyways - tied with an FG or improved Alberto's knot.
>>1792531I never went back to a spinning reel once I started using baitcasters. They're just more fun for me. If I want to throw finesse I just use a baitcaster with a BFS spool.
You can debate all day on whether they're more accurate or not but ultimately it comes down to personal preference. I personally find the operation of a baitcaster to be more ergonomic, and I enjoy thumbing the spool to put the bait exactly where I want it or to prevent an errant cast from landing in the trees. Plus pitching and flipping is much easier for me on a baitcaster.
It definitely took me a while to master it so don't expect to have a great experience the moment you start using one.
