I mean, you need transport, which can be foot with backpack, loaded touring bicycle, skateboard with backpack, etc. I personally opted for loaded touring bicycle which includes a backpack. Should I ever find myself thusly desirous, I can simply find a place to store my bicycle and the relative "bonus extras" it carries, and venture forth with only the backpack essentials.
One of the keys for me is having a method of producing some degree of income at essentially any time, any place. I make little paintings from dirt cheap Walmart canvases/paints (got better Hobby Lobby brushes), and sell them at random roadside spots. I also have a banjer to play, and will make some multitrack recordings with it and vocals/percussion/misc to sell as well. Independence maximization for optimisation of magical chasin'.
Read some Tao Te Ching and even Carlos Castaneda for some practical assistance in inner landscape expansions and rearrangement.
