what's your favourite /out/ books? books about /out/ or to read while /out/.
instructional, philosophical, fictional, or anything in between.
i just finished the naming of the shrew by john wright and it helped me understand a lot about taxonomy.

I really enjoy Locke personally. You can really see some of his influence on the Constitution. Kant is a bit of a drudge but there's some interesting ideas in there if you can get though it.

Since we just double threading get american buffalo by steven rinella. Also, this book right here is one of the best ever written about ecology. Very approachable for people without a stem background as its almost poetic in its explanations of conservation and ecology.its a good book to take turkey hunting.

I don't know any books off the top of my head, but there's an old leaf legend that fits the bill. "The mad trapper". I can link you to a radio doc story that's pretty good if you like.

The autobiographies of Ajaan Lee Dhammadaro and Ajaan Thate, and recently Ajaan Chah's bio "Stillness Flowing", have some pretty good /out/ material that to me, as somebody who doesn't get /out/ often is pretty awesome and inspiring:

Okay, that's all I'm sharing. These monks were of the Thai forest tradition during a time before the Thai jungles were practically all destroyed (before the mid 20th century), and they are known for their wanderings. Ajaan Lee spent most of his life like this.

Basically you have 4 tribes of cats living in a forest, called Clans, the cats all think they're warriors and fight to protect their clan. Because it's from the perspective of feral cats theres no human words like cars and stuff, just natural equivalents. It's comfy, the writing is Harry Potter tier so you could still read it as an adult and enjoy it. If your niece is sensitive to animals graphically killing eachother I wouldn't buy it for her.
