Shows what you know. In terms of availability and access of wilderness, Scotland is comfortably one of the best /out/ nations in the world. Can't put a price on setting off on a long hike and knowing that you can set up your tent practically anywhere without getting any hassle from over-zealous government employees (like in much of Europe and the naturally beautiful parts of the US) or weirdo locals (like in much of the Americas). Also, practically no dangerous wildlife whatsoever (including ticks), but beautiful hills, forests, and valleys all over the place.

I’m sure there’s more than a grain of truth to both of your points on paper but it’s hard for me to square them with my very regular experience of hiking, cycling and camping across a country that is replete with empty forests, hills, and mountains that I can happily pitch a tent on for days without being moved on or bothered by tourists. I’m not saying all of Scotland is perfect, virgin wilderness but you can walk literally walk 45-60 minutes out of the capital city and camp on miles of quiet, rolling hills if you want. That’s pretty unusual - if only for the wild camping laws.

Uk outdoor is pretty shit. Lived around Kendall for a while. Massive crowds in Windermere. Had to go to Scotland to get out. Wales is nice but the access is ridiculous. Nearly got arrested for kayaking. Who knew you could own a river... fuck Wales.
