see the fire? see how its backed with a wall? a wall will refect heat in a direction, so u can kinda "aim" the heat at where u sleep.
also see how the shelter acts as a heat reflect as well.
when it gets really cold, i mean like 10 to -5f its about what you have on as a base layer, and staying dry. now a fire fixes most problems but you really need to build a wardrobe that builds on layers, starting with insulation/moisture wiking on the skin, flufy mid layer (i like wool it breaths nice), if need be another layer of less breathable clothing, and ending in a shell that prevents weather exposure to the rest of the layers.
personally in hard weather such as storms i sleep with my gear on because you cant afforded to loss the heat you built up in the clothing itsself.
but if you not accustom to cold weather your gunna be cold regardless
